As an integral part of the Facility Management Team, SPAAN Tech provided daily maintenance, dispatching maintenance and operation work crews at Terminal Five of Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport.
For facility improvement planning, development, and implementation, SPAAN Tech monitored all tenant construction and facility development to ensure that all renovation work remained consistent with the Department of Aviation standards.
SPAAN Tech provided comprehensive planning and design support services for this project, which entailed the planning, design and complete replacement of 20 single-duty low-temperature water converters throughout the terminal and concourse complex at O’Hare International Airport.
The terminal rehabilitation project required the complete replacement and total upgrade of sprinkler systems for terminals 2 and 3, Concourses E-F, H-K, L, the Rotunda Building and Elevated Parking Structure at O’Hare International Airport.
This project included demolition and removal of the existing air handling unit system and installation of new air handling units and associated return and exhaust fans, duct work, low temperature water piping, chilled water piping, and building management and control systems.
SPAAN Tech provided engineering services for the replacement of three existing heat exchangers and associated pumps and electrical work in both the rotunda basement and the H&R Plant.
SPAAN Tech provided civil engineering, CADD services, and planning for the relocation of the 90-inch JAWA water line that supplies the residents of the northwest and western suburbs of Chicago. As the only potable water feed from the City of Chicago to the suburbs it serves, the JAWA water line and the its successful relocation was critically important to millions living in and around Chicago.
The construction of a new runway 9L-27R at Chicago O’Hare International Airport was part of the O’Hare Modernization Program (OMP).
SPAAN Tech and joint venture partner, A. Epstein and Sons International, Inc., provided the lead electrical engineering services to design and prepare construction documents for airfield electrical, lighting, signage, wind cones, and pavement sensors, for the new runway and associated taxiways.
SPAAN Tech also developed alternative airfield layouts to ensure that the final design was the best design.
