SPAAN Tech provides professional architectural / engineering and technical support services for facility and infrastructure planning, design and construction, with a specialization in the disciplines of civil engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, and CADD technology.

SPAAN Tech has provided the services described below to various clients such as O’Hare International Airport, the Chicago Public Schools, the General Services Administration, Chicago Transit Authority, and Illinois State Toll and Highway Authority. SPAAN Tech is prequalified with both Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) and Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT). SPAAN is also an IDOT certified DBE firm.

SPAAN Tech’s Civil Engineering services include complete site planning, design services for earthworks, pavements, water mains, storm sewers, sanitary sewers and other utilities, construction inspection, hydrology, and soil and erosion control plans for both building and transportation infrastructure. Our civil engineering team includes licensed engineers, with experience in the range of 5 to 35 years, who have designed private developments, transportation projects, and other public infrastructure work. The range of representative civil projects include soil and erosion control plans for the Willow Higgins Creek Relocation at O’Hare International Airport, Construction Inspection of Illinois Tollway 88, and site planning of a 2.5 acre private development.

SPAAN Tech provides full service Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MEP) design for new buildings and facility renovation in both the public and private sector. Our Mechanical Engineering services to date have been in the more traditional areas of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) and plumbing infrastructure, but we have recently started providing some support services in more specialized areas such as fire protection. Representative clients include General Services Administration, Hammond Indiana Courthouse, O’Hare Airport, and Chicago Public Schools.

SPAAN’s Electrical Engineering services include electrical power distribution systems, interior and exterior site lighting, data and communication systems, low voltage and high voltage distribution systems, and controls. The electrical team consists of support staff, electrical designers, and senior electrical engineers. A signature project for SPAAN Tech in this area is through our participation on O’Hare Runway Designers Joint Venture, where SPAAN Tech is leading the team on the runway lighting design and the displacement of the threshold of Runway 9L – 27R. The Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) is also a client of SPAAN Tech, Inc. SPAAN Tech helped design the escalator and elevator improvements along the Red Line and Blue Line.

SPAAN has also provided mechanical and electrical engineering services for the Chicago Public Schools (CPS) under their $2.0 billion Capital Improvement Program. These services include electrical engineering for LAN and power projects for the installation of classroom computer systems throughout the city. Under the CPS Renovation Program, SPAAN Tech is also providing mechanical engineering for improvements to the HVAC and plumbing infrastructure for many of the systems of older schools. SPAAN Tech provided similar services for the design of the John Stroger Hospital.

All of SPAAN tech's engineering services are fully integrated with computer-aided design and drafting (CADD) technology, which includes CADD support services for clients in both Microstation and AutoCAD.
